Nowadays homes and retail premises, with multiple forms of accent lighting throughout the areas, a lighting control system is often overlooked. Lighting keypad buttons can also be programmed to operate other devices, such as a fireplace, motorized window treatments, or an audio system, further reducing the wall clutter.

The system is also capable of controlling lights in multiple rooms, or even the entire house, with one button. It then becomes very easy to press a button at the top of the basement steps to turn off all lights in the basement.

Savings
Not only does a lighting control system add beauty and convenience, but it can also provide usage-time extension and energy savings. Bulb life is extended greatly by ramping lights from 10 to 95 percent brightness, rather than turning on to 100 percent instantly all the time; this is also resulting in lower electricity bill.

Security
The lighting system learns the day-to-day lighting usage. Then selecting ‘holiday mode’ before going away plays back this usage pattern over the following weeks giving the impression that people are still in the property. Moreover, the lighting system can be tied into the alarm system, so when the alarm is triggered all the lights in the house turn on and off, alerting passers by that there are possible intruders.
